The first film had a vast amount of strong female characters. Nakia, Shuri, Okoye and the Dora Milaje were just some of the powerful women featured. However, one thing they all shared is they were all on the side of good. If the studio wanted to choose a strong and powerful woman as the one to take on T’Challa, then Princess Zanda should be their choice.
First appearing in 1977’s Black Panther #1, Zanda is the ruler of a neighboring African nation called Narobia. She is also part of a group called the Collectors. Consisting of other villains, their goal is to acquire obscure and powerful artifacts. She does not have any special abilities, but the country she presides over is technologically advanced. So she has forces at her command.
Although I think Zanda would be a good character, I just can’t see her being the main villain. She could become a secondary villain, much like M’Baku, but not the featured one. Black Panther 2 is not just one of the most anticipated films in the MCU but in all upcoming movies. Marvel Studios will try to do what they can to live up to the hype. The villain and conflict need to be epic and off the charts. From what I read about her, I just can’t see her being the big bad.
