The Eternals, in some ways, are like the Guardians of the Galaxy. Before their big-screen debut, they were not widely known outside of the comic book world. Even some diehard Marvel comics fans were not that familiar with the team. This makes the trailer even more anticipated because no one knows what to expect. However, after reading the original comic series and going over official and reported news of the film, I’ll go over four things to keep an eye out for when the trailer is released.
The return of the Celestials
The Celestials made their MCU debut in Guardians of the Galaxy, when the Collector explains the history of the Infinity Stones. In the comics, however, they first appeared in the Eternals series (1976) and were actually the ones that created them. Portrayed as giant god-like beings, the Celestials created the Eternals and Deviants after coming to earth over a million years ago. At the beginning of the series, they were seen as villains. They arrived on earth in the present time to judge their creations on if they should be allowed to continue living. Of course, the Eternals prevented this, and life continued.
It’s widely known that the Celestials will have a significant presence in the film. They’ve already been involved in marketing after a poster was released that showed multiple of them walking around. I suspect that they will have a couple of key moments in the trailer that draws attention.
