For almost a year, fans have been desperate to find out if Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire will appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Despite the non-stop rumors and alleged leaks, Sony and Marvel Studios have stayed firm on not revealing anything.
Well now, during a recent interview with Total Film, Tom Holland may have nearly let the cat out of the bag about the former Spidey actors returning.
“Everyone puts their trousers on in the same way in the morning,” Holland told Total Film. “It was interesting having those guys come in because they have a certain ownership over Spider-Man in their own way, and…” At this point, the actor paused. “I’m talking about Alfred [Molina as Doc Ock] and Jamie [Foxx as Electro] and those guys. To see Alfred come in, and have to adapt and change to the way that the films are made, but also change director, and also [the fact that] I’m now Spider-Man. It was really interesting to see these actors adapt and change what they were doing to fit the modern era.”
While he did clarify that he was talking about Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx, it did feel like Holland may have nearly revealed another major spoiler.
Later on in the interview, Holland was asked if he did in fact, almost slip up and reveal Garfield and Maguire’s return.
“People don’t believe me when I say that they are not coming back. But people are going to have to believe me at some point. It means a lot to me. The first time you see Doc and the rest of the characters that come back, it’s so exciting – and it’s such a huge moment in cinematic history. It’s three generations coming together.”
Sorry Tom, I just don’t believe you. They’re definitely coming back. That would just be silly to only bring back the villains from past franchises.
On Monday, the first official poster for Spider-Man: No Way Home finally arrived. With a little over a month until its release (December 17), the second trailer should be dropping within a few weeks if not days.
