With a little over two weeks until its release, tickets for Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are now on sale. To promote the film, the studio also dropped the first clip that features an action-packed scene.
Recently, the first box office projections for the film’s opening weekend were released. Unfortunately, the numbers were lower than expected because of the COVID-19 delta variant surge ($35M-$55M).
When the film drops on September 3rd, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be the first MCU movie released exclusively in theaters since the pandemic began. During Disney’s quarterly earnings call last week, CEO Bob Chapek said that releasing the film on Disney+ simultaneously was not an option because of “distribution agreements”.
Shang-Chi will star Simu Liu as the titular hero, Tony Leung as his father (AKA The Mandarin), and Awkwafina as his friend Katy. The film was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.
To promote its IMAX release, a new poster was also released.
