Thursday night Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi hosted a watch party on Instagram Live that included guests Tessa Thompson and Mark Ruffalo. During the showing, the director spilled some details on the next installment in the franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder.
While talking to Thompson, Waititi described the film as “like 10-year-olds told us what should be in a movie and we said yes to every single thing.” One of those he said would be Space Sharks.
So what are Space Sharks? They are exactly what they sound like, Sharks living in space. Also known as Starsharks, they debuted in the X-Men comics in 1982. They have been known to be captured and modified by a race called the Brood, who use them as space ships.
In a story involving Thor and Gorr the God Butcher, the space sharks lived around Gorr’s planet. When he would kill a god, Gorr would feed the remains to the Space Sharks. One of the most memorable moments in the story was when Thor rode a Space Shark into battle against Gorr.
What will now be the question on everyone’s minds is, does the Space Sharks involvement signal Gorr to be the villain in the movie? Until February 18th, 2022 will just have to wait and see.
