According to Sony Pictures, after being released online Monday night, the first Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer managed to bring in 355.5M global views in its first 24 hours, making it the most-watched trailer of all-time in that time span. The previous record-holder was of course, Avengers: Endgame, which brought in 289M views.
To put it in comparison, Sony also said that it more than doubled the previous Spider-Man film’s second trailer (Spider-Man: Far From Home), which brought in 135M views when it was released in 2019.
While everyone was expecting it to perform well, given all the rumors, I don’t know if many saw it passing Endgame. I can’t help but think that by it leaking 24 hours earlier on Sunday night, the numbers were given a boost because people knew it was coming.
On social media, the trailer also broke records for mentions in a 24-hour span. Globally, it had 4.5M mentions across all platforms, while domestically, it was mentioned 2.91M times.
Due to the pandemic, it’s hard to see it breaking any of Endgame’s box-office records. But crazier things have happened, so you never know.
If it’s not delayed again, Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters on December 17th, 2021.
