Earlier this month, Disney announced that nearly all of the MCU’s Phase 4 films would be pushed back because of the Coronavirus outbreak. What was not said is how Marvel Studios’ shows on Disney+ would be affected.
First to hit the streamer is The Falcon and Winter Soldier. Back in March, shooting was taking place in Prague when news broke that production was being halted. Expected to have $100 Millon plus budget, the series will see Anthony Mackie (Falon) and Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier) reprise their big-screen roles.
Recently, The Hollywood Reporter caught up with Stan and asked where the series stands. Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes, says filming was not finished and that “we still have some stuff to do.” With all the uncertainty and no timetable of resuming, it looks more and more likely that the series will not meet its release.
On a positive note, Stan did praise the series and said it reminds him of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
“What I loved about it was that, tonally, it was very much in the same world that Captain America: The Winter Soldier was, which was one of my favorite experiences that I’ve ever had, period. So, in a sense, it was grounded and very much in the world as we know it.”Sebastian Stan to The Hollywood Reporter
So at least it’s good to hear that the series looks like it might have a lot of similarities with one of the best films in the MCU.
