Another Marvel Studios project has begun production. According to Nick Fury himself, Samuel L. Jackson, filming for the Secret Invasion series has started. Jackson made the announcement on his Instagram account.
Described as an espionage thriller, the Disney+ series is expected to revolve around shape-shifting Skrulls infiltrating the Earth. Announced at Disney’s Investor Day event last December, the show will be loosely based on the major event from the comics of the same name.
Compared to every MCU Disney+ series released or announced so far, Secret Invasion might have the most impressive casting group. Along with Jackson, it will star Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, Christopher McDonald, Killian Scott, and Kingsley Ben-Adir as the main villain.
Since its announcement, there had been rumors that Chloe Bennet would reprise her Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. role Daisy Johnson in the series. However, last month she strongly denied that this was true.
Look for Secret Invasion to hit the Disney streamer sometime in 2022.
