Ryan Reynolds says he pitched a Deadpool/Bambi crossover short film to Disney

Last month, to promote their upcoming movie Free Guy, Fox (which is owned by Disney) released a short film that saw Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool interacting with Thor’s rock buddy Korg. Before they made that video however, Reynolds has now revealed that he pitched a darker crossover.

During an interview with IGN, Reynolds said that he pitched a story that saw the merc with a mouth interrogate the hunter that shot Bambi’s mom.

“I wanted to do a short film of Deadpool interrogating the hunter who killed Bambi’s mom,” the actor explained. “But the whole gist of it is that Deadpool is actually just a huge fan. He’s not interrogating – he just wants to know how he could be the most loathed Disney character in the history of Disney… and of course, Disney was like, ‘well, I don’t think that’s ever going to happen.'”

It shouldn’t be that surprising that Disney wouldn’t allow this. They’re often very protective of how their IP is portrayed.

After Disney rebuffed the actor, it was then that they came up with the idea involving Korg.

“Then we came back to them – we wrote the Deadpool-Korg piece… and we sent it to them, and they said, ‘yes!’,” Reynolds said. “So, my next call was to Taika [Waititi] and Taika was in… Taika’s an actual genius so I was thrilled to collaborate with him as this kind of character.”

As for Deadpool 3, other than a writer being attached, not much is known about the film. In January, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that it would be rated R. He also said that it probably wouldn’t begin filming till at least 2022.

  1. Never seen a Deadpool film but its another cool thing that I’d like to see Marvel adapt the character into the MCU. But I did see the Deadpool Korg short which is pretty nice. Have you seen the Deadpool films?
