The last two weeks have been pretty exciting for news regarding the upcoming Spider-Man 3 film. First, we found out that Jamie Foxx will return as Electro. Then we got word that Benedict Cumberbatch would reprise his role as Doctor Strange. Now we have a new rumor that would top even those two items and it involves Miles Morales.
According to MCU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad, Marvel Studios and Sony have already cast the role of Miles Morales in the MCU. Conrad didn’t say who the lucky actor is, nor did he know if he would debut in the upcoming Spidey film. He did say that the film would logically make the most sense for him to be introduced.
Morales’ existence in the MCU has been teased before. In 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, actor Donald Glover played Aaron Davis, who in the comics is Miles’ uncle. It was taken a step further when Davis mentioned to Peter Parker that he has a nephew that lives in the area. In a deleted scene, you got to even witness Davis call Miles on the phone.
If this rumor is true, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s confirmed soon by one of the Hollywood trades. With shooting beginning in the coming days, the actor chosen to play Morales would have to start shooting. So chances of it leaking to outlets like The Hollywood or Variety would be high.
Spider-Man 3 is slated to hit theaters on December 17, 2021. Along with Foxx and Cumberbatch, it will also star Tom Holland, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon, and Tony Revolori.
