Earlier today, it was reported that Ghost Rider was in the works at Marvel Studios. Now a new rumor has surfaced online this one by GWW. In the report, it says that the studio is currently developing a project based on the team the Secret Warriors.
As with the Ghost Rider report, it is not known if this will be a TV series or film. According to MCU Cosmic.com’s Jeremy Conrad, there’s a chance that if it is a TV series than it could air on ABC instead of Disney+. Back in January, ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said that the network had been talking to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige about a series for the station.
In the comics, there have been two versions of the Secret Warriors team, one created in 2009, the other 2017. The 2009 version was about Nick Fury assembling a team of heroes to take on Hydra. While the 2017 version had Daisy Johnson (AKA Quake) creating a team to take on Hydra. The report does not specify which version of the group it will be based on. With Daisy Johnson already in ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., speculation will be that it’s the 2017 team.
This is not the first time that Secret Warriors was adapted. In 2018, an animated film about the group aired on Disney XD. This version of the team was quite different from the comics as it featured Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, Patriot, Inferno, Squirrel Girl, and America Chavez. It’s unlikely that the project will revolve around this team.
