It has been a big week for rumors with Marvel Studios. Earlier this week, separate reports circled the web that the Studio was working on a Ghost Rider and Secret Warriors projects. Now a new report from The Illuminerdi says the Studio is working on a NOVA project as well.
Like the Ghost Rider and Secret Warriors reports, it is not known if the project will be for a movie or TV series. This is not the first time NOVA has been linked to Marvel Studios. One year ago, MCU Cosmic reported that than the characters was in the early stages of being introduced to the MCU. Also last October, Avengers: Infinity War writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely revealed that in an early draft, NOVA was going to be the one that crashed on earth to warn about Thanos. Of course, he was later taken out, and instead, Bruce Banner was chosen as the one to warn the team.
In the comics, NOVA has been portrayed by several people. The more popular one seems to be Richard Rider who was introduced in 1976. Born on earth, Rider gained his powers when the last surviving member of the planet Xandar’s elite Nova Corps crashes on earth. In a similar origin to Green Lantern, he than selects Rider to replace him and so his superhero career begins.
As we found out in Infinity War, Xandar was destroyed by Thanos when he stole the power stone. Perhaps, there was one last remaining Nova Corps who survived, and this is how Rider could be introduced to the MCU. Until more is known, we will just have to wait and see.
