Back in November, it was reported that actor Tenoch Huerta was being eyed to play the villain in the Black Panther sequel (Wakanda Forever). Now a new report might have just revealed who that villain is.
According to The Illuminerdi, Huerta will play Namor the Sub-Mariner. They also said that the film’s main plot will revolve around a conflict between Namor’s mighty forces of Atlantis and Wakanda.
With filming set to begin in July, The Illuminerdi also reported that right now, the studio is looking to cast roles for Namor’s fellow lieutenants Namora and Attuma. In the comics, Namora is Namor’s cousin and is also part of the popular team Agents of Atlas. Attuma is someone that usually clashes with the Sub-Mariner.
If this report is accurate, it really shouldn’t come as a surprise. Throughout the years, Namor’s Atlantis and T’Challa’s Wakanda have gone head to head on multiple occasions.
The matchup was actually teased in Avengers: Endgame. According to the writers, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, a scene where Black Widow asked Okoye about an underwater earthquake in the ocean was a reference to Atlantis.
So what do you guys think of this rumor? Do you think it’s true, and if you do, how do you feel about the casting choice?
