According to a report by MCU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad, Marvel Studios is starting to lay the groundwork for one of the most popular villains in Marvel Comics’ history. That villain is none other than Doctor Victor Von Doom.
In the report, Conrad says that instead of introducing Doom first, Marvel will have Lucia Von Bardas debut before him in the MCU. In the comics, Bardas became the ruler of Latveria, Doom’s home country, after he was disposed of. It turns out that she was just as evil as him and would later be taken down by S.H.I.E.L.D.
We always knew that Doom and the rest of the big characters (Fantastic Four and X-Men) Disney received in their acquisition of 20th Century Fox Studios would not debut for some time. It does appear that they will introduce smaller ones that will lay the groundwork for the rest of them.
By introducing Bardas and possibly Latveria first, it will make it easier for Doom’s MCU arrival. After Fox’s two previously failed takes on Doom in past films, Marvel Studios absolutely wants to get it right with comics’ most feared foes.
There are many ways that Kevin Feige and the rest of Marvel Studios could connect Bardas to Doom. Perhaps they could flip the script and have her be the ruler that’s disposed of her first, and Doom would be her successor. Or maybe she’s just a diplomat to Latveria, and she hints at, or name drops Doom. Either way, it’s good to see Marvel finally starting to use Fox’s assets.
