If you thought Avengers: Endgame was the last time you would see the Mad Titan in the MCU, think again. According to a rumor by MCU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad, Marvel Studios has begun having internal discussions about how to bring back Thanos into their films.
Conrad did not give any specifics on how this could be done, nor did he say that it was definitely happening. He just said that it’s “something in the cards.”
After wreaking havoc on the Avengers in Infinity War and meeting his demise in Endgame, Thanos became one of the most popular villains not only in the MCU but in film history. It should not come as a surprise that they are looking to bring him back. After all, in the comics, everyone knows that no one stays dead forever. With time travel and the Multiverse’s existence now in the MCU, there are ways to do it.
As to what future films he could be back for, speculation has always been that he could somehow have a presence in the upcoming Eternals movie. In the comics, Thanos’ parents are actually Eternals, A’lars and Sui-San. For a while, it’s been known that the Eternals will take place in the distant past, so perhaps we will get some kind of Easter Egg related to him. Better yet, maybe will get to see a young or even a baby Thanos.
