It seems that reshoots for Thor: Love and Thunder have already begun. According to The Ankler’s Jeff Sneider, the fourth installment in the franchise started “additional photograph” in Manhattan Beach, CA, last week. Sneider also suggested that this particular round of filming involved Oscar-winner Christian Bale (Gorr the God Butcher).
There’s no word on how long filming is slated to take. It’s a very common practice for Marvel Studios movies to undergo reshoots months before their release. In fact, their next film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which comes out on May 6, just finished up a round of them recently with Benedict Cumberbatch.
Despite a little over three months before its release (July 8), there’s still no trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder. On average, the first trailers for MCU films come out 155 days before their release. At 108 days until the God of Thunder’s next adventure, we are well below that number. The only other MCU film to have a shorter gap is 2008’s The Incredible Hulk (93).
Taika Waititi is back in the director’s chair for Thor: Love and Thunder. The film has such a big casting assemble that the studio thinks it has a “Avengers 5 feel”. Along with Bale, it will star Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, and Karen Gillan.
