According to a popular South Korean media outlet StarNews Korea, actor/recording artist Park Seo-joon has joined the cast of the upcoming film The Marvels in an undisclosed role.
While fans in the U.S. may not be that familiar with Seo-joon’s work, he is widely known in South Korea. His credits include Kill Me, Heal Me, She Was Pretty, Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, and Fight for My Way. He also had a small role in the Academy Award-winning film Parasite. According to the outlet, he will travel to the United States in “the second half of this year” to begin filming.
Originally the Phase Four film was titled “Captain Marvel 2”. However, in May, it was announced in a reel of Marvel Studios’ upcoming film slate that it would be retitled to The Marvels. The change was made to reference Ms. Marvel (played by Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (played by Teyonah Parris), who will also be in the film.
While specific plot details are under wraps, it is known that actress Zawe Ashton will play the main villain.
The Marvels will be directed by Candyman’s Nia DaCosta. It’s slated to hit theaters on on November 11, 2022.
