Last September, news broke that Marvel Studios was eyeing actress Hailee Steinfeld to play Kate Bishop in the upcoming Hawkeye series on Disney+. However, nothing developed and it was believed that the studio had moved on. Now according to multiple online outlets, it appears that we will, in fact, be seeing Steinfeld suit up as Hawkeye’s apprentice.
First reported by The Illuminati and later confirmed by MCU Cosmic, Steinfeld has signed on for the role. The series which will see Jeremy Renner reprise his big-screen role as Clint Barton (AKA: Hawkeye) is now expected to begin filming in October.
Previously it was reported that Steinfeld’s contract with Apple to star in a series on their streaming service was the long hold up in the deal. Her casting became in such doubt that Marvel began the process of finding other candidates for the role. No reason was given in the report on why the deal was finally able to go through.
Signs of progress for the show began a few weeks ago when directors had been chosen. The six-episode series is scheduled to arrive on the Disney streamer in the Fall of 2021. However, with all the uncertainty with the Coronavirus pandemic going on that could change.
