Report: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to begin production later this year

The Guardians have a busy year ahead of them. At the moment, they are in Australia filming for Thor: Love and Thunder. Now according to a new report, later this year, they will travel to the UK to begin filming on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The report, which comes to us from Murphy’s Multiverse, specifically says that once Director/Writer James Gunn is finished working on his Peacemaker series, production for Vol. 3 will begin shortly after.

At Disney’s Investor Day Presentation in December, it was revealed that the Guardians would also star in their own Christmas Special for Disney+. Filming for that would be done simultaneously as Vol. 3.

Not a lot of plot details are known about the third entry in the series. During Comic’s Quarantine Watch Party last April, Gunn did hint that Rockets’ origin would be a big part of the film. He also said that this would likely be the last GOTG film that he will be involved with.

While no release date has been announced yet, it’s expected that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will not hit theaters until 2023. The Christmas Special is expected to come out before that in late 2022.
