It looks like another MCU project has started production. Earlier today, Paul Rudd, star of Ant-Man and it’s sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp, revealed that he’s begun filming in London for the third film in the series (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania).
Rudd dropped the news in a video on Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill’s Instagram account.
Plot details for the film are still under wraps. However, because the word “Quantumania” is in the subtitle, it seems that the Quantum Realm will be a significant plot setting. It’s also known that Lovecraft Country’s Jonathan Majors will play the time-traveling villain Kang the Conqueror. As we saw in Avengers: Endgame, the Quantum Realm can be used to travel through time. So Kang does seem like a logical choice as the villain, given the setting.
Announced at Disney’s Investor Day event in December, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will see Peyton Reed return for his third outing as director. Alongside Rudd and Majors, the film will star Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne/Wasp, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, and Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne. In addition, Kathryn Newton will take over as Scott Lang’s daughter Cassie Lang. Emma Fuhrmann played the character in Endgame.
Despite filming starting already, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will not hit theaters until February 17, 2023.
