Marvel Studios’ upcoming series Secret Invasion is about to add another to its cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Academy Award winner Olivia Colman is in talks to join the Disney+ series. The outlet did not say what character she would be playing.
Coleman has had quite the run over the last couple of years. In 2018 she won an Academy Award for her role in The Favorite (Best Actress). In the previous two seasons of the mega-popular Netflix series The Crown, she portrayed Queen Elizabeth II. This year, she’s also nominated for another Academy Award for her role in the film The Father.
Announced at Disney’s Investor Day event back in December, Secret Invasion will see Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Ben Mendelsohn (Talos) reprise their MCU roles. It will be based on the famous Marvel Comics Event, and involve Skrulls secretly infiltrating high levels of governments worldwide. Last month the series added Kingsley Ben-Adir to its cast in an undisclosed role.
Shooting for Secret Invasion is expected to begin in the UK and Europe this fall. It’s expected to hit the Disney streaming service sometime in 2022. Mr. Robot’s Kyle Bradstreet will write and Executive Produce the series.
