We finally have some big news breaking in the MCU, and it’s regarding the highly anticipated sequel to Captain Marvel. According to Deadline, Marvel Studios has selected Nia DaCosta to direct Captain Marvel 2.
Only 30 years old, DaCosta’s resume includes Little Woods and the upcoming film, Candyman.
In January, news broke that WandaVision writer Megan McDonnel was hired to pen the script. In the same story, it was also discovered that the directors of the first film, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, would not return. A search soon began to find a replacement to helm the Brie Larson led picture. After meeting with multiple candidates, DaCosta came out as the studio’s pick.
Slated to come out July 8, 2022, plot details are as usually under wraps. However, it has been rumored that the film will set up the next Avengers story.
