The last couple of months surrounding Deadpool’s potential entrance into the MCU has been interesting, to say the least. In April, Wade Wilson himself, Ryan Reynolds, seemed to question if Deadpool 3 will even happen. Then in May, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld claimed that it’s Marvel Studios’ fault that a third film hasn’t happened yet. He followed this up by posting a graphic picture on Instagram involving Deadpool and a bloody Mickey Mouse. Something I’m sure that did not go over well with the higher-ups at Disney.
Now actress Morena Baccarin, who played the merc with a mouth’s girlfriend Vanessa Carlysle, has added even more questions to the film’s status. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Baccarin gave the latest on what she’s heard about with the film.
“I have no idea,” Baccarin admitted. “Apparently, they’re still writing it. I genuinely don’t know. I have not been asked, or approached. There’s been no conversations yet, so I’m waiting with bated breath.”
It is interesting that she says it’s still being written. Whether this is true or not, I don’t know. It could have been a situation where she or people representing her asked the studio for its status. In turn, to give her something, they just told her it’s still being written. Maybe I’m overthinking it, and they are actually writing it, I don’t know. The whole situation surrounding this film has been kind of crazy.
Baccarin did add in the interview that she hopes to be back and that her role is “as big as possible.” Her character did die at the beginning of the second film. However, using Cable’s time travel device, during the mid-credit scene, Deadpool did appear to go back in time and prevent her death.
