Recently there have been rumors that Charlie Cox might be returning to play Daredevil in the MCU, specifically Spider-Man 3. Since then, fans have been hoping that more marvel characters from the Netflix shows could also return.
However, in a new interview with ComingSoon.net, Luke Cage actor Mike Colter says don’t expect to see him in the MCU anytime soon.
“I got to say, I rarely think about it in the sense of what could be or will be, I know fans are eager to see something with the character,” Colter explained. “I know I established him and it was an honor to do that, but I don’t know what the future holds, I’m just in my mode of doing Evil right now and a few films on hiatus. If something happens, I’d love to have a conversation with them, but for now I’m not holding my breath, I’m happy either way, it was a good run.”
Colter first appeared as Cage in the Jessica Jones series in 2015. He than played the character in a show of his own called Luke Cage. He also appeared in The Defenders series that saw Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Daredevil, and himself join forces. Shortly after the second season of Luke Cage aired in 2018, it was announced that the series was canceled. Soon after that, all the Marvel shows on Netflix would follow suit and get canceled.
Personally, other than Daredevil, I never really liked any of Netflix’s Marvel shows. Because the budget was low, the fight scenes with specifically Cage, I always thought were awful. Of course, none of this was ever Colter’s fault. Maybe with a Disney+ size budget, it would have been entertaining. So if he gets another shot at the character, hopefully this time he’s given the resources to succeed.
