There have been multiple rumors lately about Charlie Cox returning to play Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil) in the MCU. One rumor has him returning for the upcoming Spider-Man 3 film. While another says that he will appear in the She-Hulk series.
During a recent interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was asked about the possibility of Cox reprising his role.
“I look at anything that’s happened before, whether it’s our movies, whether it’s Marvel entertainment TV series, in particular, obviously the comics, video games, cartoons, all of it is available as inspiration for the future of Marvel. That’s the way that comics have worked for many years. So, we’ll see.”
Hoping to get another response from Feige, Weintraub followed up by saying, “I think a lot of people really loved Charlie in that role and are hopeful that he can find a way back.” Feige’s response to this was to slowly and silently shake his head in agreement.
While this was a non-answer from Feige, it will undoubtedly raise fans’ hopes of the man with no fear returning.
Cox played the role for three seasons on Netflix. He also appeared in The Defenders series, which saw him team up with Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones. Shortly after Season 3 was released in October 2018, the show was canceled. Eventually, all of the other shows on Netflix were canceled and the rights to use the characters returned to Marvel Studios.
