In what should not come as a surprise, Deadline reports that Marvel Studios will not participate in the San Diego Comic-Con@Home event that’s being held later this month (July 23-25). This is the second straight year that the studio chose not to take part in the online event.
No reason was given as to why they won’t be present. The outlet also didn’t say if the studio will take part in the in-person convention being held over Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 26-28). According to Comic-Con International, that gathering will be smaller in scale compared to regular conventions, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they also skip that.
It remains unknown if Marvel Studios will participate in any events this year. Last year, the studio showcased their upcoming shows/films during Disney’s Investor Day. It was here that they announced multiple new shows (Armor Wars, Secret Invasion, Ironheart) and that their Fantastic Four film would be directed by Jon Watts. While this could change, at the moment, Disney does not have an Investor Day scheduled in the second half of this year.
You can bet though that Marvel Studios will return to the stage next year and participate in Disney’s D23 convention that’s scheduled to be held from Sept. 9-11, 2022.
