Following the release of its new trailer, Marvel Studios has released a gallery of stills from their upcoming film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The high-resolution pictures are pretty much just screen grabs from the two-minute video that dropped on Thursday.
My favorite of the eight is the shot of Shang-Chi (played by Simu Liu) facing against his father The Mandarin (played by Tony Leung). In the picture, it seems that they are having a sort of “tug of war” over the Ten Rings.
Another notable shot includes our first look at the giant dragon known as the Great Protector. During production, it was thought that the dragon would be Fin Fang Foom, a giant beast that’s not actually from earth. However, earlier this month, Liu denied that he would be in the film, citing “offensive stereotypical reasons”.
One picture that the studio decided not to release, was one of the Abomination (presumably). At the end of the trailer, fans basically lost their minds when a sequence showed the Hulk villain facing off against someone trained in the mystic arts (Wong maybe?). First appearing in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, it has been known that Tim Roth, who played him, would be appearing in the upcoming She-Hulk series. It seems that he will make his return first in this film.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will hit theaters on September 3rd.
