After being rumored and teased for years, it sounds like Nova is finally coming to the MCU. According to Deadline, Marvel Studios is developing a Nova project and has tapped Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada to pen the script. While it’s not clear if it will be a film or a Disney+ series, the outlet did note that it’s “likely to be limited series for Disney+”.
In the comics, Nova made his debut all the way back in 1966. As a member of the intergalactic police force known as the Nova Corps, he gained the abilities of super strength, flight, and resistance to injury.
Over the years, there have been multiple individuals to hold the title as Nova such as Richard Rider and Sam Alexander. In their post, Deadline seemed to imply that this particular project will focus on Rider.
The first time Nova was teased in the MCU was during 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy when the Nova Corps were introduced. Sadly it was revealed during Avengers: Infinity War that Xandar, home to the Nova Corps, had been wiped out by Thanos. It will be interesting to see how Marvel introduces the character with his whole team seemingly wiped out.
So what do you think about Nova finally coming to the MCU?
