Marvel Studios is developing a Halloween special for Disney+; will reportedly involve Werewolf by Night

By Stephen Ippolito | August 27th, 2021

According to The Wrap, Marvel Studios is developing a Halloween special for Disney+. The outlet says that the project “may” be based on the characters Werewolf by Night.

In the report, it’s said that the studio is looking to cast a “Latino male in his 30s” for the lead role. It’s also said that filming could begin sometime in “early 2022.” If this is accurate, then this would leave me to believe that it could be released around Halloween of next year.

For those unfamiliar with him, Werewolf by Night is the name of two different characters in Marvel Comics. The first was Jack Russell (debuted in 1972), a descendent of humans cursed with lycanthropy. The second was Jake Gomez, who was introduced more recently (2020).

Since Werewolf by Night is where Moon Knight first appeared (1975), it’s now speculated that Russell or Gomez will make his MCU appear in the Oscar Isaac-led Disney+ series next year.

  1. I think that it would be great to have a Halloween special with Werewolf it’s just something that the MCU can now do. It would definitely improve Mooknight even more for me if we got the Werewolf it would just be really cool and something weird and crazy that the MCU can do.
