According to Variety, Marvel Studios has chosen Chinaka Hodge as head writer for its upcoming Ironheart series. Slated to be released on Disney+, the series will star Dominique Thorne as fan-favorite Riri Williams (aka Ironheart).
Hodge, who is also a poet, is best known for being a writer on the TNT series Snowpiercer. Her other credits include Apple+’s Amazing Stories.
The character Ironheart is relatively new to the world of Marvel Comics. Debuting in 2016’s Invincible Iron Man, Williams is a 15-year-old genius who built her own advanced suit of armor, similar to Iron Man’s, while attending MIT. Other than Thorne, no other castings have been announced.
Ironheart was announced by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige during Disney’s Investor Day back in December. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will consist of six episodes. While it’s still not known when the series will begin filming, it’s expected to hit the Disney streaming service sometime in 2022.
