Marvel Studios executive says more animated shows are on the way

In just a couple of weeks, Marvel Studios’ first animated series, What If…?, will be premiering on Disney+.  Now according to one of the studio’s executives, more animated shows are on the way.

During an interview with Variety,  Marvel Studios executive VP of film production Victoria Alonso revealed that “a few other shows” are in the works. She also said that Marvel has what she described as a “mini studio” working on them.

“We have so much coming your way that you might tell us, ‘Okay, take a break now!'” Alonso began. “We’re going to have our animation branch and mini studio, and there will be more to come from that as well. We’re super excited about animation, which is my first love.”

Alonso didn’t get into what specifically the studio was developing. She also didn’t say if they will also take place in the MCU, like What If…?.

Personally, the news of a “mini studio” in the works at Marvel doesn’t really come as a surprise. Over the last couple of months, I’ve noticed openings on for positions in Marvel Studios’ “Animated Division.” In fact, if you look now, there are actually two different jobs posted (Director Post Production and Animation Supervisor).

So what animated shows would you like Marvel Studios to make? For me, I would love to see them revive X-Men The Animated Series from the 1990s.

  1. I don’t really know what I would want from Marvel for animation. I’m really looking forward to What If, Marvel announced I Am Groot and said it would be animated but I don’t really care about that. An animated X-Men show sounds cool but I’d rather it be live action. So I guess I’ll just have to see what it is Marvel’s been working on.
