Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige says Scarlett Johansson will return to produce a “top secret” MCU project unrelated to Black Widow

Last night, Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson received the American Cinematheque Award at a ceremony in Los Angeles. Present at the event was Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, whose worked with the actress for over a decade. During a speech that paid tribute to her, the Marvel boss revealed that her work with the studio is not entirely done.

According to Feige, Johansson is already working with them on a “top secret” project as a producer. While he didn’t reveal much about it, he did say that it will be unrelated to her character Natasha Romanoff.

“We are already working with Scarlett on another non-Black Widow-related top-secret Marvel Studios project with her as a producer,” The Marvel boss offered. “Scarlett is one of the most talented, versatile and beloved actors of our time. It has truly been a pleasure to work with someone of her caliber. From those epic training sessions preparing for the hallway fight in Iron Man 2, to the around the world press tour in Avengers: Endgame to partnering with you as a producer on Black Widow, working with you Scarlett has truly been one of the most memorable and rewarding collaborations of my career.”

This is some turnaround that Johansson has had with the studio and its parent company Disney since the Summer. In late July, news broke that she’d filed a lawsuit against Disney for how Black Widow was released. Thankfully, both sides announced that a settlement had been reached in late September.

When asked about the lawsuit/settlement by The Hollywood Reporter during last night’s event, Johansson now says that she views the whole experience as a positive one.

“It was a very surreal time because, of course, the film had come out and was hugely successful and that was a big celebration. I had a baby and that was obviously a life-changing, amazing, celebratory thing,” explained the actress who also has a 7-year-old daughter. “In a way, that sort of buoyed me through the very uncertain, stressful time. I feel mostly very fortunate that nobody will have to go through what I went through and that it’s made, I think, a positive impact in the industry and hopefully for artists and creatives’ lives and livelihood.”

While she didn’t say it, I’m sure she feels positive about it because she reportedly received $40M in the settlement.

As for what the “top secret” Marvel project could be, who knows. If I did have to guess, I would bet that it involves a female hero. Maybe a solo film involving Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova?

What do you think the project will be?
