Marvel Studios announces What If…? series will premiere on August 11th; new trailer also released

In May, it was reported that Marvel Studios’ first animated series, What If…?, would be released on Disney+ sometime in August. Now thanks to an announcement by the studio, we now know the exact date.

In a post on their Twitter account, the studio announced that the series will premiere on August 11th, with new episodes coming every Wednesday.

The second trailer for the series was also released. As you can see, it contains a whole bunch of never-before-seen shots of the epic series.

Based on the popular Marvel comic book series of the same name, What IF….? will be an anthology series, that tells different stories of what would have happened if certain things occurred differently throughout the MCU’s history.

Stories that are expected to be told include one about what if Peggy Carter took the super-soldier serum instead of Steve Rodgers? Another one will be about what if the Ravagers had picked up T’Challa instead of Peter Quill? This episode will undoubtedly be emotional for fans because Chadwick Boseman was able to provide his voice for the role before his tragic death last August. As you can see in the trailer it looks like we will also get a story that involves Tony Stark and Erik “Killmonger” Stevens.

Current and past MCU actors/actresses are expected to voice their roles for the 10 episode series. Michael B. Jordan (Killmonger), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/The Hulk), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), and Hayley Atwell (Agent Peggy Carter) are just some of the names that will be in it.

  1. The show looks really fun and even though it won’t effect the MCU I think that it’ll be really cool for all us fans to see MCU moments turned into cartoon and then an important detail gets swapped out. It feels like I think Multiuniverse of Madness would look like, the casting seems to be on point, and the animation looks creative. The trailer just looked fun, and we got a release date!
