Marvel boss Kevin Feige says some of the recent Spider-Man 3 casting rumors are true and some aren’t

Over the last couple of months, there have been some pretty crazy casting reports about the upcoming Spider-Man 3 film and how it will involve the Multiverse. Jamie Foxx’s Electro, Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, and the franchise’s previous two Peter Parker’s (Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire) have all been reported to join the film.
In a new interview with ComicBook.com’s Brandon Davis, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige addressed these reports.
“I’ve read some things. I’m not sure I’ve read all things,” Feige told ComicBook.com in an exclusive interview during a press event for WandaVision. “The fun thing about online speculation when it comes to our stuff is how sometimes it couldn’t be more off the mark and sometimes it’s shockingly close, and that’s held true for the last few years. But saying which is which would take all the fun out of everything.”
So the good news is that Feige confirmed that some of these reports are true. The bad news is that he says some of them are not true.
If I had to guess, I would say that Foxx’s Electro and Molina’s Doctor Octopus are the ones that are definitely true. The reason I believe this is because both of those came from The Hollywood Reporter, which is a very accurate outlet. Whenever they report on something, they are either hearing it from the studio or someone who represents the actor, like their agent.
The report of Garfield and Maguire returning is the one that might be inaccurate. That report came from Collider, which is also a very accurate outlet. If The Hollywood Reporter is part of the A-team in reporting then Collider is part of the B-team. But if I had to pick one of these to not be true, unfortunately, I’d have to go with this one. Hopefully I’m wrong because to have all three Spider-Man appearing on the big screen together would be epic. It would by far be the most anticipated film for 2021.
Spider-Man 3 has been in production over the last couple of months. Once again, Jon Watts will serve as director, making it his third time behind the camera in the series. Look for the film to hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
I thought Sam Raimi was going to be the director?
Jason Derrick, that’s for Doctor Strange 2, not Spider-Man 3. Jon Watts has been confrimed to direct both this third Spider-Man movie for the MCU and the new Fantastic Four movie, which is currently in development.
