Since it was announced last August at D23 that a She-Hulk series was in the works for Disney+, fans have wondered if Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner would be appearing. After all, in the comics Banner plays a significant role in She-Hulk’s Jennifer Walters’ origin. So it was kind of figured that he would be in it.
“There’s nothing completely at a place where it’s a done deal,” Ruffalo said. “There’s some talk of having Banner/Hulk show up in [the Disney Plus series] ‘She–Hulk.’ If we come up with something good, that would be really interesting. Right now that’s about it. That’s all there is on the table.”
Although it’s a good sign that talks are still happening, it’s interesting that the deal is not done yet. One would think that this is a negotiating tactic by Ruffalo and his agent to get more money. It could also be possible that he does want a better story for the Hulk, who knows.
Also in the interview with Variety, Ruffalo says he’s still holding out for a solo Hulk film. He also says he’s got an idea of what it would be about.
“There’s an idea that I think could be really interesting,” Ruffalo said. “We’ve never really followed him into his life. He’s always kind of off on the side. He’s like the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of the Avengers. It’d be interesting to fill in all the blanks about what happened to him in between all these movies.”
The chances of this happening are still slim. Contract rights for a solo Hulk film still belong to Universal. Unless a deal similar to the one that Disney and Sony have regarding Spider-Man is made, chances are very slim on Ruffalo getting his wish.
