Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who plays Judge Ravonna Renslayer in the Disney+ series Loki, has confirmed that she will be returning for the show’s second season. The actress revealed the news while appearing on Good Morning America yesterday.
“So, so exciting. I know there is a Season 2. I know that I’m in it, and that’s about all I can say!” Mbatha-Raw reveals. “Well, I just love Renslayer. I’m so excited to explore her further, and I’m so happy that people are really looking forward to the next season.”
The last we saw of Renslayer was when she decided to leave the Time Variance Authority after learning that the Time Keepers had been constructed by an outside force. Because of her romantic connection to him in the comics, it has been thought that in season 2 she’ll come face to face with Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror. The actor, of course, played a variant of the villain (He Who Remains) in the finale of the first season.
Outside of Mbatha-Raw, the only other known cast members confirmed to return are Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Sophia Di Martino (Sylvie). We do know though that the sophomore season will have a new director as Kate Herron has said she will not be back.
Earlier this week it was reported that filming for the second season of Loki will begin in the UK this summer. If accurate, then this probably means that it will arrive on the Disney streaming service sometime in 2023.
