Loki series’ premiere date moved up two days, new episodes will be released on Wednesdays

By Stephen Ippolito | May 5th, 2021

This is interesting. Earlier this afternoon, Marvel Studios announced on social media that the upcoming Loki series will premiere on Disney+ two days earlier (June 9th) than previously announced. The studio also announced that new episodes of the Tom Hiddleston led series will be released on Wednesdays.

The previous Marvel-produced shows (WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier) for the Disney streamer were released on Fridays. No reason was given by the studio for the change, but I suspect it was made to separate itself from other streaming services’ new releases.

With a little over a month to go, Loki has been in full marketing mode. On Monday, an exclusive look was shown during halftime of the Warriors-Pelicans game on ESPN.

Loki will consist of six 50-60 minute episodes. Other than Hiddleston, the series will star Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant.
