During an interview with The Undefeated, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would finish production this week. The Sam Raimi-directed sequel has been filming in England since November.
During the interview, Feige talked about how actress Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda Maximoff (aka Scarlet Witch), went straight from shooting WandaVision to working on the Doctor Strange follow-up.
“I’m here in London on the set of Doctor Strange 2 for our final week, and Lizzie is here having worked non-stop from wrapping WandaVision to stepping right into Doctor Strange 2”
What’s impressive is that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness finished production without any major additional castings leaking. Obviously, it’s known that Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Olsen, Benedict Wong (Wong), Rachel McAdams (Christine Palmer), and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Karl Mordo) would be appearing in the film. But besides Xochitl Gomez, whose slated to play America Chavez, no other new characters have been announced yet.
I’d imagine that one of those roles being kept secret is the “big bad” of the film. During the after-credits scene of the first film, it was hinted that Mordo would turn against Strange in the sequel. However, you have to think there’s an even bigger threat out there for the Sorcerer Supreme, and Mordo will be a secondary villain.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is slated to hit theaters on March 25, 2022.
