Yesterday a report broke that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would begin shooting on February 1st, 2021. The story seemed believable because it went along with what director James Gunn has been saying for over a year now. That is, he would not begin working on the film until Suicide Squad 2’s postproduction was finished. Like many stories that break online, it seems this report has been proven wrong.
Earlier today, Gunn tweeted out that this report is entirely wrong and that he does not know where it came from.
The third installment in the Guardians of the Galaxy series is likely the last for a while. The film’s original plan was to come out in May 2020 (a few weeks ago). But after old controversial tweets from Gunn reemerged, he was fired, and the film was pushed back indefinitely. Of course, Gunn was later rehired in March 2019, but by then, he had already signed on to direct and write Suicide Squad.
