A couple of weeks ago, Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt said that filming for Vol. 3 had begun. Unfortunately, he was mistaken because director/writer James Gunn debunked the claim on his Twitter account.
Well, now it looks like production has begun for real this time. Around noon Eastern time today, Gunn posted on his Twitter account a behind-the-scenes picture to officially announce the start of production.
In the picture, it shows Gunn along with Pratt (Star-Lord), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Sean Gunn (Rocket/Kraglin), Karen Gillan (Nebula), and Will Poulter (Adam Warlock).
The picture also includes actor Chukwudi Iwuji who has apparently joined the film in an unknown role. Iwuji recently worked with Gunn on his Peacemaker series.
As usual with MCU projects, plot details for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are being kept under wraps. With it being the last one for Gunn, it’s expected that some Guardians will also meet there end in the MCU.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is slated to hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
In a separate Tweet, Gunn confirmed that actor Chukwudi Iwuji has joined the cast of the film. The director described his role as something “every big name actor in Hollywood wanted.”
