We finally have confirmation on another major casting in the MCU. A set video provided by Murphy’s Multiverse reveals that actress Hailee Steinfeld has been cast as Kate Bishop for the upcoming Disney+ series Hawkeye. In the video, Hailee is seen filming a scene in a Brooklyn, New York subway station with actor Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton) and a dog. Another video, that’s shown below, was posted online with a better angle.
Steinfeld had been linked to the role for over a year. However, doubts about her casting began in the spring. But in July, multiple sites reported that Steinfeld had in fact signed on for the role and that filming would start in the fall. While the studio has not officially announced the role, I would look for it to be announced at Disney’s Investor Day next week.
In the comics, Kate Bishop takes over the Hawkeye mantle and joins the Young Avengers. Rumors of the young superhero team being formed in the MCU have been brewing for months. They started back in the spring when it was reported they would be introduced in Ant-Man 3. They gained traction when it was reported that Kang The Conqueror would appear in the film. Of course, in the comics, the time-traveling villain was the first foe the team faced.
It’s not known when Hawkeye will hit the Disney streaming service. With filming just beginning, I would imagine it won’t be until sometime late in 2021.

For those questioning whether that actually is Hailee Steinfeld in the video, here’s some Hi-Res photos of her close up.
