Earlier this morning, the embargo for critics who were able to watch the first three episodes of Marvel Studios’ first animated series What If…? was lifted. To no one’s surprise, it seems that they all loved it.
Described by one person as the “MCU’s Twilight Zone”, the anthology series was praised for being “exciting”, “fun”, and full of “twists and turns”. One of the episodes that critics were able to watch was the one where T’Challa becomes Star-Lord. This was of course emotional to watch because it’s the final performance for Chadwick Boseman in the role.
In addition to Boseman, the 10 episode series will see many stars voice their big screen MCU roles. Andy Serkis, Angela Bassett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Benicio Del Toro, Chris Hemsworth, Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders, and Danai Gurira are just some of the names that will return.
What If…? premieres on Disney+ on August 11th, with new episodes being released every Wednesday.
