With about two months until it’s scheduled release, one of the biggest questions on MCU fans’ minds is will The Falcon and Winter Soldier be released on time. The anticipated series that will stream on Disney+ will become the first of many shows Marvel Studios will produce for the streamer.
Back in March, while filming in the Czech Republic, production was halted due to the Coronavirus outbreak. While it was suspected at the time that not much filming was left, star Sebastian Stan confirmed this later in an interview.
Now Stan’s co-star for the series, Anthony Mackie, is doubling down on how much filming is left. In an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Mackie gave an update.
“I’m happy to say we are not canceled. We are on hold. We’re going back hopefully sometime soon and finish it up, we have very little stuff to do. I’m very happy with it. We have a little more to go back to do. But everybody rest assured, it will come out. We’re not canceled. “
While no one actually thought that it was canceled, it is nice to see Mackie have some fun with it. Hopefully, the “very little” left to film is enough time to get the series out for August. If I had to put money on it, I would expect the show to be pushed back to September, possibly October. As the first big budgeted show for Marvel Studios, they want to start off on the right track. So pushing the show back slightly so the final touches can be added, will be understandable.
