Marvel Studios newest film, Eternals, earned $71M at the domestic box office during its opening weekend. The total makes it the fourth-highest opening in 2021 (Venom: Let There be Carnage $90M, Black Widow $80M, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings $75.3M).

Going into the weekend, Disney projected that Eternals would earn around $75M in North America. It’s presumed that the slight underperformance was due to it receiving the lowest Rotten Tomatoes (47%) rating and CinemaScore (B) of any MCU film.

In International markets, the film managed to perform better as it grossed $90.7M. With a worldwide total of $161M, Eternals did manage to beat both Black Widow ($159M) and Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings ($140M) at the global box office during opening weekend.
