During an interview with ComicBook.com, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced that actress Dominique Thorne will make her MCU debut as Riri Williams (aka Ironheart) in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
“We’re shooting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever right now, and the character of Riri Williams, you will meet in Black Panther 2 first,” Feige revealed. “She started shooting, I think, this week before her Ironheart series.”
In the comics, Williams is a genius 15 years old who builds an advanced Iron Man-like suit while attending MIT. It just so happens that the Black Panther sequel is filming at MIT in Cambridge, MA this week, so this will likely be where she’s introduced. I think it’s safe to say that fans are hoping Letitia Wright’s Shuri is the one that interacts with Williams.
As Feige mentioned, after her appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, will next see Thorne in her own Ironheart Disney+ series. At the moment, other than her, the only other person attached to the project is Chinaka Hodge (head writer). With the series expected to debut in late 2022, I’m sure there will be many more additions in the coming months.
As for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, that is expected to hit theaters on July 8th, 2022.
