This Sunday is the Super Bowl, which means we’re going to get some new trailers. Because the pandemic has negatively affected the studio’s financially, some will be skipping out this year. Thankfully, Marvel Studios’ parent company Disney will not be one of them.
According to Deadline, Disney will have 2-4 trailers air during Sunday’s big game. The going rate for a 30-second commercial this year is $5.5 Million. So the House of Mouse is expected to spend over $10 Million on trailers that night.
As to what the trailers could be, that is still unknown. My guess is that one of them has to be for Raya and the Last Dragon. The animated film is slated to become the second movie released on Disney+ for a premium price in March.
The others I’m hoping are for Marvel’s upcoming shows like Falcon and Winter Soldier, Loki, What If?, and maybe Hawkeye. I doubt each one will get its own, but it probably will be a reel of all the shows, similar to what they did last year.
Because of the uncertainly of all future theatrical releases, I have a feeling Disney will steer clear of them. This means films like Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Eternals would miss out. What’s funny is that Black Widow had a Super Bowl spot last year. If Disney were to give it another one, it might be the only film to ever have a movie trailer played during two Super Bowls.
So what trailers do you hope to see? An unrelated MCU question, who do you want to win the game?
