Last November during Disney+ Day, fans were shown what was to come for the MCU on the Disney streaming service. It was here that we were given our first official looks at She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and Secret Invasion. It was also here that Marvel Studios announced new shows like Echo, Agatha: House of Harkness, X-Men ’97, and a few others. Well, earlier today, the company announced that Disney+ Day will return, only this time it will be held in September.
As you can see, the event will serve as a direct lead into D23 Expo: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, held in Anaheim, California, from September 9-11. Because of this, it’s likely that Disney+ Day won’t be as newsworthy as it was last year as certain things will be saved for the Expo.
Between both events, you can guarantee that we’ll going to learn a ton about what’s ahead in the MCU. On the streaming side, I’d imagine a trailer for Secret Invasion will be released (series is expected to drop in late 2022/early 2023). A peak at Ironheart and Loki season 2 might also be shown for those in attendance. In terms of announcements, shows that have been reported, like Nova and Okoye, might also be revealed.
On the film side, while I do expect some news to come out during the Expo, I do think the bulk of it will be saved for San Diego Comic-Con (July 20-24). Back in 2019, the last time both events occurred, Disney/Marvel Studios made most of their movie announcements during Comic-Con (Blade, Thor: Love and Thunder, Eternals, Black Widow, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). During the Expo, the most significant thing revealed was Black Panther 2‘s release date, which has since changed. If they do tell us anything, my hope is that it’s some kind of update on the Fantastic Four reboot and/or the next Avengers film.
What do you want to be announced/shown during Disney+ Day and the D23 Expo in September?
