Disney and Marvel Studios have announced that Black Widow will now open simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access on July 9th. To watch the Phase 4 film on the Disney streaming service, viewers will have to pay an additional $30.
The company also announced that Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has also been pushed back and will now arrive in theaters on September 3rd. Originally the film was scheduled to come out on July 9th.
This is the third time that the Scarlet Johansson led film has been delayed. Originally the film was supposed to come out in May 2020, but because of the pandemic, it was pushed back to November 2020. Then in September, when things were not improving, it was moved again to May 2021. Now it will arrive in July.
Earlier this year it It was reported that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. was against the film coming out on Disney+. It seems though that the house of mouse had become tired of waiting and decided to go against the Marvel chief.
Personally, I’m just happy it’s getting released. In the beginning, I was hoping that they would hold off releasing it on Disney+ because I’m a big theater supporter. However, the last couple of months I’ve come down on that and just wanted the film to come out no matter the platform.
I wonder how many people will pay the extra to watch it on Disney+, especially knowing that it will be free at some point in the near future, after all, we’ve waited this long that a little bit longer won’t make much difference!
I bet it will be more than people did Mulan and Raya The Last Dragon combined
Lol! You’re probably right there.
