Disney announces Black Widow earned $80M at the domestic box office ($215M worldwide) during opening weekend

A short while ago, the Walt Disney Company announced that Marvel Studios’ first film released since the pandemic began, Black Widow, earned $80M at the domestic box office this weekend. In addition, the company also announced that the film earned $78M at the international box office and $60M+ in Disney+ Premier Access purchases. In total it brought in $215M worldwide.

The $80M domestically, only ranks 19th overall for an MCU film. It was just ahead of 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp ($76M) and behind 2016’s Doctor Strange ($85M), and 2013’s Thor: The Dark World ($85M). I’m sure had the film been released before the pandemic it would have easily earned well over $100M. On the bright side, it did set a post-pandemic record opening by beating F9 ($70M).

The $60M+ it earned from Disney+ purchases was the first time the company actually announced how much one of its Premier Access films earned since they started releasing them last year (Mulan, Raya and the Last Dragon, Cruella).

  1. I didn’t see Black Widow YET I’m gonna see it sometime next week, I keep track of all the highest grossing films and how much money films make so Black Widow is probably gonna do really good (it already has) so hope it keeps going up I’ll see it sometime later this week/next week. You’ll probably hear my thoughts on it Saturday but what did you think of it? I heard mixed opinions on it.
