Last night, director James Gunn announced on his Twitter account that filming for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 had officially finished. Gunn also announced the addition of a cast member who fans of HBO Max’s Peacemaker series will recognize.
As you can see, actress Jennifer Holland has seemingly joined the third installment in the series in an undisclosed role. As mentioned, Holland is best known for starring in DC’s Peacemaker series, which was also directed and written by Gunn. After being in a relationship for years, the two announced back in February that they were engaged.
Filming for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 had been ongoing since November. Over the last couple of weeks, there were a number of set pictures that leaked out. The most notable of them was a photo that saw Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord wearing a comic-accurate costume.
Not a lot is known about the plot of Vol. 3. There have been rumors that the main villain will be the High Evolutionary (played by Chukwudi Iwuji), but nothing has been confirmed.
On multiple occasions over the last couple of years, Gunn has said that Vol. 3 would be the last Guardians film that he will direct. It’s unclear if it will also be the last film for the cast that we’ve gotten to know for nearly a decade.
Along with Pratt, Iwuji, and Holland, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will star Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Sean Gunn (Rocket/Kraglin), Karen Gillan (Nebula), and Will Poulter (Adam Warlock). Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper will of course, also provide the voices of Groot and Rocket.
Before Vol. 3 hits theaters on May 5, 2023, the Guardians will appear in Thor: Love and Thunder and Thunder (July 8) and the The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, slated to arrive on Disney+ later this year.
